Vanessa Tuna is of German-Turkish descent and was born and raised near Stuttgart, Germany.  Her name is not an artist name, for Tuna means "Donau/Danube" like the river.

She took her first steps into the world of music at the young age of seven.

Inspired by Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Chaka Khan and Madonna, 13-year-old Vanessa stepped onto the stage for the first time.  From that moment on it was clear - Vanessa wanted to become a singer.  With her eyes set on this goal and with the support of her father, also a musician and guitar teacher, she began her music career.

Classical and pop vocal coaching ensued alongside learning the basics of instrumental harmony and rhythmic theory.

Vanessa took every chance to perform live and worked together with several bands which led to important performances for companies like Daimler Benz, Bruno Banani and Audi.  She also had the opportunity to sing for various film premieres as well go on a three-month tour with a soul band, performing for a number of trade shows throughout Germany.

After signing her first exclusive artist contract, she was invited to sing background vocals for Chaka Khan, Chris de Burgh, Chris Thompson (Manfred Man), Bobby Kimball (TOTO), Tony Carey and Sabrina Setlur.

After fulfilling her contract, she began collaborating with Martin Leitzinger.  From this came the "Vanessa Tuna Project." With self-composed and self-produced songs, Vanessa now presents her Debut EP "Newly Minted."

"Newly Minted" was brought "on air" on the international online radio station Jango Radio and quickly acquired a fan base representing more than 130 different countries.

Her song "Be Your Lover" was chosen by Mercedes Benz for its "Mixed Tape 29" compilation, which had more than one million downloads.

Soon after, "Newly Minted - Flavored" was released on Amazon USA.

At the beginning of this year, SWR presented her new song "There For Me" in an exclusive radio interview.
